| | | A couple abandoned houses US24 in Ohio < on 4/3/2009 4:45 PM >
| | | I had to make a run to Indiana earlier this week, decided to take US24 on the way back to Detroit. Stopped in a couple interested abandoned houses. http://www.flickr....72157616131582295/ http://www.flickr....72157616234171194/ Hitting these rural spots is always a very different experience than Detroit. They are littered with stuff that would have been scavenged a long time ago. The second house had a calendar from 1998 hanging in the living room. There were a couple of TVs in place that looked as if they may actually work, which is really strange.

| | | Those are incredibly awesome and creepy photos, especially the one with the front of the house and all the trees obscuring it. The one with the light bulbs in the bowl made me realize that exploring an abandonment is like reading an Edward Gorey story--you get glimpses without context of actions without reason, random yet purposeful. You wonder what it means, or if it means anything at all. Beautiful pictures, man.

| | | I always wonder what happened to these houses former owners, that they just up and left all their things inside, and some weird things at that.

| | | Thanks! More often than not, the story is what drives me to keep exploring places. It is usually a story that will never be pieced together entirely, but I love seeing the lingering remains of a past life.
