Ideal Cement, North Carolina

Has anyone been out this way? I went out there with a friend and we made it down to the plant and ended up seeing someone. There were sounds of hammering so I chickened out. Long story made short. Anyone know if this place is still active? The coordinates are 34.376901,-77.846938, so if you dump that into google maps you can see the place. It looks pretty epic and supposedly is where they film part of the Mario Bro.s Movie. Thanks

It is active to some extent, and is the subject of a much debated redevelopment by the Titan America cement co. Apparently they use the location for redistribution but not manufacturing, so in theory there should be lots of idle equipment around the place. MTV filmed a show called "Fear" here back in 2000. Might be worth a look, but I would not expect it to be easy. I may make a trip there sometime as it's fairly close by.

Thanks I guess I will redo the trip at night. When I headed out that way on a Sunday there was someone working.
