| | | Hi, I just wonder what are the dangers of asbestos, I've done researches about it but I haven't found what I was seeking for. I've been to a place full of it today and I'm a bit worried. Do the exposure has to be long or even one hour or two is dangerous? I was wearing a chirurgical mask, I know that it isn't a very good protection, I'm thinking about purchasing a real gas mask. So, am I at risk?

| | | Well, thank you very much! There were a huge amount of asbestos all over the floor and it got me kind of paranoid, even though an exposure once or twice a year isn't critical, I'll definitively buy a mask, thanks again!

| | | You can find disposable p/n95 filtering masks at hardware stores for ~20 bucks a box. Personally I carry around my old hazmat full face respirator with p99 filters on it and an extra pair in the back. but thats just me.

| | | Out of curiosity how did you know it was asbestos? I think it's only a threat if you're exposed to it over a long time. One half-hour visit isn't going to give you cancer.

| | | Correct me if I'm wrong: But I do not believe a N95 (or even N99) mask will protect you against asbestos fibers.
