|  | | | Is the Oxford house of Refuge the same place as the Oxford Regional Centre... I've seen only a couple pictures of each place and there are similarities, but there are also differences. Is hwy #59 considered to be concession #11?

| | | | ORC is definatly not the Oxford House of Refuge. Concession 11 is not Highway 59 either. The buildings are pretty far apart, and not connected as part of the same facility or anything.
Anyway, UEL went to the House of Refuge a couple weeks ago after reading about it on Haunted Hamilton, and we were in the area to check out ORC anyway. I think the place is sold now, because it was on the market at one point. It's set about 60 yards back from the road (Concession 11) at the end of a tree-lined drive. The driveway has a large locked gate and numerous NO TRESPASSING / BEWARE OF DOG signs. To make matters worse, there's several houses right across the street from the place. Anyway, no windows are broken, and the front door is boarded. There's two shacks out back which have lights on outside them 24/7, as well as a security light on the front of the main building. Also, when we drove by (two trips, about 2 hours apart) there were cars parked in behind the building.
Needless to say, we didn't get inside 
If you need to know how to find it, basically, an entrance to 11th Concession is right at the outskirts to Woodstock along highway 2, next to a train trestle. Just follow the concession for a couple kilometers and it'll be on the lefthand side, can't miss it.

| | | | I talked with the owners today, the building is to be domolished within a week or two. It is not worth looking into, we talked with them on-site this afternoon. They allowed us to peak inside the side entrance. It is not safe to enter any longer, most of the floor has been removed. This is no longer to be considered an infiltration. It would have been nice to explore this place several months ago.
like I posted on another thread, there are 3 facilities within a few kilometres of each other...
1) Oxford Regional Centre (demolished)
2) Ontario Hospital Farm (part of ORC - accross the road)
3) Oxford House of Refuge (should be considered demolished already)
Trust me, don't go back to the Oxford House of Refuge... you will be CAUGHT!
