Been to Kingston to dive loads of time, been on the Cornwall and the rest of the places, my favourite place to dive is the Wolfe Islander. Those dive are at anywhere from 60-200ft. The Wolfe Islander Car Ferry that was sunk in Kingston starts at 80ft deep for the Top Deck if I'm still correct.

| | | Someone earlier asked about security at Marmora Mines. Well, they have just installed a lot of high tech cameras within the last short while. These cameras see everything, including the people swimming, as that is also private property. Also, there is a person the cameras watching all day and evening so I highly suggest either asking permission to enter and take pictures (which you probably will not get as they consider their site "sensitive information". I was told this by the manager). If you do get caught exploring they will call the O.P.P and you will have to delete any pictures you may have taken of the inside of the mine and you will be fined for trespassing and possibly B & E. If you do get caught, be polite, delete the pictures as asked and hope they let you off with a ticket. Do not travel with anything that can be construed as a B & E tool (pretty much common sense). Just a head's up for anyone who hasn't been there in awhile....

| | | I really doubt that... the place is so clapped out, there's no hydro at the abandoned portion... and there's no need for any kind of B&E tool as everything is wide open (ie, walls missing) I go there a lot, and nothing has changed.

| | | I wish you didn't doubt that. I was there yesterday. I was arrested for trespassing by the O.P.P. They were going to charge us for B & E. I was in handcuffs for the first time in my life. I spoke with both the O.P.P and the Manager and they DO have cameras, which was how they were able to so easily detect us. In fact, the only thing that saved our asses was we were honest about where we had been on the site, we were polite, we were clearly not there to do destruction AND the manager did delete some of our pictures. I posted this as a fair warning to the members here. I didn't post it just for the hell of it. Edited to add - you have to understand that this mine employs 3/4ths of the population there. There has been an awful lot of destruction to the site and it is a huge legal liability issue for them if someone gets hurt. Makes sense for them to install cameras. Sucks for us, but makes sense for them. The good thing is the police were incredibly nice, understood that we were not destroying anything and let us off with a ticket.

| | | Is the lookout area where everyone parks their cars? We went in that way. When I was let go, and nodscene was still in cuffs, the manager told me they had just installed these high tech cameras that watched the entire area. The silly part of this whole thing is that we saw the OPP on the property, but seriously doubted they were coming for us. So we sort of stayed where we were, which was at pretty close to the dirt biking area. The OPP officer (female) who eventually arrested me asked if I was willing to let the manager see my pictures, because they had been watching us since we got there (along with everyone else that was there). Being a ninja sure would have helped, if we were invisible! haha. But no way, they knew everywhere we had been on the Mine property. Lesson learned for us. :0

| | | I was the very recently and i never saw one camera or hydro on the property...there was at least 20 or 25 other people inside the fence, lots swimming and just a few random guys drinking. I did take a few pictures. there was also like 3 families in the lookout area. also the POE has been untouched in atleast 5 years. so i dont think there trying to stop people because they would have sealed off that entrance. I use to stop there as a kid on the way back from ottawa and that POE was always there. [last edit 7/30/2009 1:05 AM by Cryptix - edited 2 times]

Are you a manager for this property? This whole story doesn't make sense and the more you write, the less coherent it gets. - You saw cops on the property but chose to go in anyways. Huh? - These 'cameras' apparently are over by the building area just next to the quarry, which as anyone knows is active and probably should be avoided. It also according to locals has nothing to do with the mine, because the mine closed a long time ago. - Why on earth is the OPP and the manager hanging out on a Sunday at an abandoned mine complex? I don't even see a detachment contact for that area (Hastings county). Either you guys were doing something really stupid and don't want to admit to it, or your the manager and you want people to stay away. If the later is the case i don't have any issues with that, you could post and be honest, guards have posted here before. But none of what you said makes any sense.

you said that you were let go with a ticket. therefore you were not "arrested" you were detained in cuffs so they could talk to you. correct me if i'm wrong, but you did NOT get arrested. [last edit 7/30/2009 3:40 AM by olive - edited 1 times]

| | | Yeah, I never saw anyone being bothered, the people who were swimming were there before I got there and were still there when I left. It looked like they'd been there all day. I never saw any no trespassing signs until the buildings. Heres a crappy P&S pic of the swimmers.
