| | Abandoned School / Church Manchester < on 3/17/2009 10:14 AM >
| | | I found this when visiting friend around Manchester, it was nestled behind lots of trees, but quite close to a main road. I asked around, and it is possible that the structure was initially built as a cluster of buildings for the nearby paper mill, but over the years as the mill was closed or sold on the building has changed hands and been used for different things. The open area to the rear of the building looks very much like some sort of childrens playground, but some locals told me that it had been used as a church in recent years before just being shut. That is when the vandals started to set fires and burn it down. The blacked out window in the first image was actually some kind of stained glass window, adding weight to the story of this being used as a church at some time. There was a really creepy atmosphere in this building, especially to the rear of the building where there were paintings on the wall that looked as if they were made by children. Enjoy
