Designed by John Eberson and completed in 1930, this building is one of Richmond's finest examples of Art Deco architecture.

Many thanks to ShaneofVa for this hook up!

Ok, fine I enjoyed the photography, but I'm curious why you could get up on the roof of a building that's nearly ready to open.

After seeing the inside, I now believe that it is nowhere near ready to open. There is a lot of work to be done and it appears as if it has been halted.

Looks like an awesome spot, I'm loving that vault door. Place looks pretty untouched inside comparatively speaking, I like it.

All info I had come across said that the remodleing was completed. I figured it was a waste of time.

Plus...we couldn't find a way in.

you post a day after me and you already have more comments and views. Grrrrrrrr

"Ok, fine I enjoyed the photography, but I'm curious why you could get up on the roof of a building that's nearly ready to open."

Since when does it matter if a place is ready to open????

"After seeing the inside, I now believe that it is nowhere near ready to open. There is a lot of work to be done and it appears as if it has been halted."

I have a great pic of the construction office downstairs. On the dry erase board is a list of things you can do to not get fired, across the top it reads"LETS TALK ABOUT DOWNSIZING". Yes this place is another victim of the failing economy.

"And we did not do that at MAMU why?"

I'm pretty shure a bunch of people tried, they could'nt make the climb, and I was'nt invited.

Oh yeah, nice work Pork Chop. Glad you made it.

I love Art Decco. We have lots of A.D. structures in the bay area. From a more elegant time of building design.

I wish i was underground, that's where the love is.

The machine in #34 is a 6300 series Graphotype machine. Apparently they're rare enough that the people who run this website are compiling a list of the remaining machines.

Great set! That would be a fun place to check out.

Interestingly, the exterior looks kinda like the Royal York hotel in Toronto.

The building is now locked up tight. Several locations here are now sealed. It may be that construction has started again now that the warm weather has arrived.
