Meat Packing Plant built in 1919

Visited another abandoned meat packing plant in southeastern NC today. Built in 1919, closed in 1923 when the owner hung himself. A teenager fell off the roof of the building and died back in the 1980's. Pretty imposing building in person, even though it's been gutted out. I went most of the way up in the building, there was a way to access the actual rooftop, but it was fairly risky and I chose not to.

God-awful panorama shot, I apologize for the crappyness of it, I'm pretty unskilled at this sort of thing. At least it gives you an idea of the size of the place though.

I also made another couple stops. This is an old icehouse, pretty well boarded up though so I wasn't able to get much in the way of interior shots. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets demoed soon, part of it had been knocked down already and some houses were just built 50 feet behind it. It was raining pretty hard so these shots aren't the best, some were taken from inside my truck as well.

Very nice photos! Looks like you had a fun day. There are so many places to go and take photos in NC. Hope I get to take a trip a few miles to the south and explore some of them myself.

What region of NC are these locations in? Eastern, Piedmont, etc... The meat packing plant looks awesome!

EDIT: sorry, I got excited and didn't read the post closely, lol.

That icehouse looks epic from the outside. It is definitely ripe for further exploration. I also love the spiral staircase to the roof. Who installs a spiral staircase to the roof?
