| | Nat'l. Capital Skeet & Trap Club, Darnestown, Maryland < on 2/23/2009 4:06 AM >
| | | The abandoned National Capital Skeet & Trap Club in MD (near Germantown) is in the Washington, DC outer suburbs. The skeet-shooting range was put out of business after 50 years due to an environmental lawsuit involving lead shot fouling the adjacent Great Seneca Creek watershed: http://www.gazette...214259_32474.shtml
The vacant caretaker's house is at the top of the driveway. (mouse-over photos to expand)
The back porch of the caretaker's house.
Behind the house are a few ancient junkers, including a '58 Chevy Delray wagon.
A long driveway leads to the skeet club. There's an old barn nearby.
The shooting range is down the road a 1/4 mile. A McMansion stands in the distance.
The towers contained target-firing machines. None of the skeet-launchers remain and only one tower houses some supplies and graffiti. Empty shotgun shells create technicolor litter next to each tower.
Bunkers stand in front of each tower. One still holds a supply of clay targets. Broken targets litter the site.
The office is a '50s-style rancher w/ a hunting lodge interior. The electricity is still on.
There's a BBQ pit and a couple of busted golf carts. Look out for deer and hunters.

| | | Nice work and cool location. However, your not supposed to post location specifics and/or entry details. You may want to remove the address, link and pic(s) of the entrances.
