| | | A rookie mistake, or stupidity ? YOU DECIDE Yeah, I decided to make an epic title with a slogan just for your reading enjoyment, anyways. When I first joined the site I spent alot of time in the database and alot of my first explorations, I found in the database. But alot of them I didnt find, why? Becuase they were demolished, has anyone els ever overlooked the building status and went right to the location without even checking if it was demolished or not.. please say you have, it would make me feel alot better. Ha Ha.

| | | Not from the DB, but I've certainly sought places out based on photographs, only to find they're long gone. It's never a complete loss, though - you never know what you might find along the way.

| | | I have BUT I reddeemed myself (in my eyes anyway) by finding a location in the db that was marked "demolished" but which still had one very undemolished building remaining. That building has seen a little resurgence of late and I like to think it's because of me. But I still felt like a dork when I went to the demolished location.

| | | I haven't looked up a spot without knowing if it was demoed or not. Especially when I'm scouting I try and pay attention to what's around as far as demolition. The only one that was a quick abandon and demo was a big SuperValu office annex southwest of the cities and that one went down pretty quick after they moved.

| | | It is a sad day when you go to a location only to find it has been demolished since you were there last and then you have tocome home and change the status in the DB.

| | | Haha. I research everything before i go. Ive never went somewhere and found out it was demolished. I look for recent pics or just word of mouth from people i know around the state. Nothing like wasting a trip and being pissed for something that is demo'd. Always research first.

Yeah, I passed an abandoned medical centre just two weeks ago and marked it down as worth checking out. When I passed it again just yesterday, it was 3/4 demolished already. Some buildings just go fast, I guess.

Yeah, that's my concern, they're abandoning and demoing a power plant this summer that's supposed to be gone by the end of the year. I'm going to be sad if I forget to check it out before its down...or if they demo it while I'm in it.

I try to look at the DB every time I log on. It is great. Awesome pictures of so many places and right at your finger tips. I love it.

We tend to just drive around and get lucky finding abandonments that aren't in any DB yet...however, we did hear about a beauty from a "friend" that assured us it was there, satellite showed big awesome site, 3 hour drive for a watertower...Boo to speedy demolition and slow satellite updates! There were some gems along the way though so it wasn't a total wash...half the fun is the stuff found on accident.
