| | Why do people like to burn things? < on 2/7/2009 7:31 PM >
| | | Nothing makes me angrier than seeing abandoned places on the news up in flames, or seeing in photo archives that end in newspaper clippings about "The Blaze" Why do people burn ish? arsonists should get the same prison terms as drunk drivers imo.......

| | | They are young and immature and think that a moment of stupidity is worth watching the resulting fire, fire department arrival and media focus. We had two 12-year old kids burn down a historic steelworkers hall here in Sudbury. Those parents will be paying off damages for years to come if they are sued.

| | | I was pissed when i heard kids burned down the Lake House and attempted at another building at North Princeton Developmental Center. That was one of the first places i went back in 2000, right after it closed down in like 98.

lol.. I love this thread.. And now for one reason abandonments are burned... Fire dept. training. Its more or less rare these days, but some FD's still are permitted to burn buildings for "live burn training" I know of one FD in Simcoe that loves to burn stuff, and they legally get to about 6 times a year. Nothing is funnier than hearing the 911 call from concerned motorists/residents reporting a fire and having the call taker state back, "no worries, fire is on scene, they started the fire."

| | | Easiest way for a city to get rid of those pesky historical buildings to make way for condos...get someone to pay some punk kids to light it ablaze! Or just leave it alone and wait for it to happen naturally.
Keep it fuzzy. |

I can only image what's gonna happen to the arsonist when he/she gets caught.

Yes this is a really scary situation..They had arrested 3 people but the fires continue. I cant wait until they catch the ones responsible. Burning homes while people are inside sleeping is not cool. The count as of today is 23 fires.
23rd arson of 2009 declared in Coatesville area 13 hours ago COATESVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Investigators in southeastern Pennsylvania have declared the 23rd arson of the year in the urban region that includes the Philadelphia suburb of Coatesville. Federal investigators say the latest blaze destroyed a mobile home just outside Coatesville late Friday and they now say the blaze was arson. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says there have been 18 cases of arson in the city of Coatesville and five in the surrounding area since Jan. 1. There were 15 arson blazes in the city last year. The Coatesville police chief announced Friday that a curfew now requires everyone under the age of 18 to be off the streets by 8 p.m. The city's curfew had been 10 p.m.
