| | The new kid in a used car garage < on 2/7/2009 4:59 PM >
| | | My name is Eric, and I'm an artist in North Texas. I used to do a lot of exploring, but once I got to college I stopped. After reading Paper Towns by John Green and buying again a Canon AE-1, I decided now was a good as time as ever to get back into exploring abandoned places. I'm always on the look out for somewhere I could go, if there are people guarding the place, how easy is it to get in, and how could I get in if it's not easy. Posted this here and in the south UE forums. Hope everyone enjoys what I got. The Big Show Abandoned Used car lot in Carrollton, Tx. I don't know how many are generally uploaded, or even if I'm doing this in the right place. Hopefully I am. Limited my upload to a few, although I have a lot more of each place. Found the abandoned car lot while driving around on 635 between 30 and 35. If traveling from 30 (mesquite) to 35 (denton) it will be on your right side. Before leaving, my friend and I did some recreational activities that caused my memory to not be what it usually is and we got there around 8pm. Obviously, it was very dark but I still wanted to at least scope out the area. Very creepy at night, to say the least. All of the buildings are open, no locks that I saw. There's a barbed wire fence around the large garage complex but it's open, and so are the doors at the front. We were pretty sure there was someone sleeping here at night, so we decided to come back in the morning. When we did, we walked through almost the entire area, except for maybe 5 rooms that we might have heard moving in (although, my wits were on end at the time, so more than likely it was just building noises.) There is parking next to the lot that we didn't get towed from, so I'm assuming they are safe.. don't hold me accountable for anything though. If we can post Long / Lat coordinates on here (if it's allowed?) I will.
This is an abandoned drive in theater located in Denton, Tx right across from Discovery Park. Looks like it's currently being used as a dump, which is sad. Easy to get into, as there is a gravel road that takes you right to the building. May be glass and nails around though, so be careful. It was fairly obvious that some homeless frequent here, but they are pretty nice so it's nothing to worry about in my opinion.
Hopefully I can keep updating on my whereabouts every few weeks or so

| | | Some cool stuff, man. I wish my first few explorations were that cool. (My first few were a backbreaker drain and tiny utility tunnels) I've still yet to find an entire abandoned complex, although I did find some abandoned sections of a mall. D: Anyway, keep it up! Looking forward to seeing more from you, you seem to live around some cool stuff.

| | | I'd love to have an old drive in around me! I'm currently waiting for one of the crappy theaters we have here to go out of business so I can go poking around ;)
