A question for drainers

This is in the basement of an old school. Do you guys think it would be worth trying to get it open? Think it would go anywhere interesting?

Try opening it and go from there!

when you are here, you wish you were there. but once you're there, it soon becomes a here, and you again wish to be there instead of here...

we will never be completely satisfied.

hahahaha good point, I admit I didn't really look at the picture, I just made the assumption that it was open-able.

The handle is there in the middle... Looks mighty corroded so there be dark creepy extreme dampness on the other side. Try getting the handle to pop up then start prying.

It probably just leads to a sump pump... or, it could lead to a secret sub-basement of awesomeness. Manhole covers in basements are ALWAYS worth popping.

I'd say go for it. See if you can get a crowbar or something down in there to pop loose the handle in the middle.
You never know until you try, right? Go ahead and have an adventure.

I didn't realize that thing in the middle might be a handle.. that gives me some ideas.

Sump pump? Every sump pump installation I have seen has the discharge pipe and the power cord coming up thru the access cover.. Plus I think I saw the sump pump in another corner of the basement.

I guessed sump pump because of the conduit/pipe in the left corner of the picture, that looks to enter the floor beneath the manhole rim.

Is that yellow spot on the left teh Orbz, or, as it appears to me, are you lighting this scene by burning a magnesium wire?

Which would be really dangerous, and also Awesome?

Sad to see it go, but at least now you know. And nobody can take that from you. Well, except head traumas.

Yup, It would have bugged me if we hadn't gone. Especially because I heard a rumor that there was a tunnel to another school thats next to it.
