Exploring the Golden Ears Bridge

I have an odd fascination with watching things being built. Especially when it's a large bridge. So I wandered around the river bank and found some abandoned boats and got some pictures of the bridge under construction. These were taken in a bit of a rush.

I'm eager for spring to come so I can really get into this. I hope to find some more interesting places.

Nice post. I too have been watching the progress on the bridge.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

Steampunk, I love your first picture. It shows the length more than mine do.
It's interesting to watch stuff like that go up. I wonder what they'll do with the Patullo.

Thanks guys!

nice! i've not seen this up close but i'd like to get to the top of one of those bridge towers. Perhaps once everything's joined up properly.

That pub was over by the Pitt River Bridge, not the Golden Ears. But that would've been interesting.

I have done the north tower on the train bridge, right beside the Ironworkers. I went back up it the next night, because i forgot a full 26 of vodka in it!

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

Wow, you were right on the bank! I had to go into a restricted area to get a few of my pictures. Did they not mind that you were there or did you get there "after-hours"?
I was totally not expecting cars, haha.

It was a Sunday, there was no one around. Just squeezed behind a blue insta-fence, and had free run of the whole area.

This is the Langley side in case anyone couldn't tell.

If you go to Summerland you can walk under the Kettle Valley bridge since there is rarely anyone around. You probably dont want to be walking across when the train comes though because the bridge shakes like crazy and it is a long fall!!!! This isn't a great photo but it's all I have left on my computer from a few years ago.
