Ah yes. Good old New Castle, Scotland! lol
|
Well...yes. New Castle isn't in Scotland. Thanks for that geography lesson. Sincerely. I was, in fact, referring to a conversation Turbo and I had previously re: New Castle Brown Ale, where we both agreed that it is a fine brew.

| | | The best aid I can suggest to understanding Scots is a few litres of this stuff:
That'll get you fluent! Chris...
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |

| | | I've been waiting for it to show up on Netflix. It's listed but it still says it's waiting to be released.

Indeed. Fluency is important. Turbo, aren't you simply tickled that I said that you and I agreed and no one countered?

| | | didnt say it was cheap to make, but doesn't change the fact that reproduction and distribution doesn't require a dvd to be priced that high, and i'd love to buy it, i just cant drop that kind of money on a dvd right now, i have more exspensive hobbies i need to save for.... Maybe if the guys where from Ireland it would be worth it.. but Scotland? pshh [last edit 1/11/2009 2:57 PM by galax - edited 1 times]

You right, because there's no way a film producer would like to recoup her costs on making the thing in the first place, right? I suppose we should just get everything at cost price, hey? Well, I'm off to buy a brand new Mercedes AMG for $5000, because there's NO WAY it costs more than that to weld some metal together and slap on some wheels. I agree that for a DVD this is on the higher end of the pricing structure - but keep in mind that it's an independently made documentary set in multiple continents. It's not a mass made and heavily marketed 'Britney Spears SingALong' disk!

That's a good point - just think of all the awesome locations in Ireland that have been posted here and to other places on the web. All 7 of them. I guess if Ireland had bothered to have a European Convention of explorers then the film may well have featured that, instead. But guess what? Didn't. Chris...

Dude...I love you like a long-lost very distant relative...but if you ever put the words Ireland and Europe in a single phrase again, I'm coming over to your place for one of my special visits.

Well, hate to fuck with you matey, but both Northern and Southern Ireland are both geographically located within Europe AND EU Member States. You'll need to write to them directly if that upsets you. Chris...

| | | during the Paris segment at one point one guy lights up some sort of smoke flare and I was wondering what is it and how is it made. Can you buy some of those at a store or do you have to make them yourself and be careful with mixing the right amount of each ingredient? I know there are some clips on YT but it's the recipe I want. If anyone has more info you can contact me by PM. Also feel free to start a "smoke bomb" thread and post you recipes and tips there if there isn't one already. apparently those smoke bombs are common in the Paris catacombes: http://www.uer.ca/...fid=1&msgid=291646
"Also, there is a custom of lighting up smoke bombs in the catacombs. So if you walk in the catas and suddendly, the place if FULL of smoke and you can't see your own feet, someone set a smoke bomb for you. There are not dangerous, but they will slow you down as you'll have no clue as where you are, what's around you and where you're going. Just sit down and it's gonna go away. Eventually..."
