Alright, so I was just reading through this post that I made ages ago, and I can't remember if I ever clarified it or not.

This post was actually not of "Peter Cooper" at all, but in fact "Hynite" which was an old fertilizer company closed many a year ago.
Peter Cooper is north of there, which is a very nice big abandoned building that was closed due to a fire.
Wabash Alloys which is south is abandoned, I have just never gotten the time to check it out.
Also just south of that is the old DuPoint Factory foundation. We have checked that out before, and there is a whole lot of nothing but what seems to be acres of nice smooth concrete.

Like I said, I don't remember if I posted about this in any other threads, but I figured one more wouldn't hurt either way. Back when I splore'd this place, I really didn't know much about it, and over the months, my research has yielded much more useful information.

Hope this helps anyone who might be in the area, and wanting a place to check out.

when you went, did you take the mile hike, or run the risk of parking by the bars & houses?

We didn't see any of the foundations from du pont/du point [sp?], just lots and lots of freshly graded property- within the past year or so. I've got quite a bit there that I still want to see...

To quote shot gun indirectly. At the time that we went to Hynite, we did not take the mile hike, because we were not sure how long it would take. We did in fact park by the bars, went during the day, walked right down the road, around the fence, and splored' away. Looking back, I am surprised we did not get found out. We now take the Mile Hike to any of the locations there, just seems to be an all over better plan. To get to Hynite, Peter Cooper, and the DuPoint foundation, hopping a fence is not even required. It is possible with some ease to get to all three simply by walking right onto the properties. So far Wabash is the only one that requires seeking a route past the fence, which if you are savy enough, can also be done fairly easily. Hope that sheds some light on it.

As for DuPoint shotgun~ If you go at night, it is very easy to miss it, there is noting still standing there, so if you do not walk far enough inland, and just hug the tree line (which is recommend) it would be very easy to miss the foundation completely. Consult google maps if you wish to get a look at whats still there. Live maps works good if you want to see any depth that still remains.

Funny - that's exactly how some friends and I got caught when we went to explore the glue factory. Some old guy wiht a cool dog didn't like us and called the cops.

why did you need to hide?

When we were there last week, we bumped into a group of 8 other people, and they said there were other groups in there earlier- plus we heard a third group later. So long as you take the long route, and don't cause too much racket when you leave the park, there's almost no way you can be seen. Damn those hills though...

climbing down into the holes is by far the best place I can imagine- even better than the dock houses that no one knows about. I almost got stuck in one last week, thanks to plenty of mud.

I was stuck in a building where there were no hiding places and there was no subtle way for me to exit. I pretty much just had to hang out in the building and wait to take my medicine. We had to hide because we didn't take the mile long hike route. Instead, we walked right in from the front - and the locals, as I mentioned, didn't look on it favorably.

Also those guys that were there parked right in front that were leaving while we were going in. And their car not starting didn't help much either. I'm guessing the cops had an idea someone was there. Even if we weren't the ones they were looking for that owned THAT car. Plus Asylunt and I just happened to be up in a biulding and he noticed the cops. That cop thought we were looking for ghosts. He was cool. Probably because we were wearing our Pabst helmets. McKormack, Lipper, and I for get the other guy's name.........We gotta knock down dat wall, dat wall, and dat wall over dare. Dey all gotta come down.

HA. was that in hynite then? I can't see how they'd be able to see you from the road if you were on the glue factory.

The hynite demo seems to have slowed, if not stopped. All of the demo equipment has left, and just the plastic on the windows remains. Hmmm....

I couldn't remember the other guy's name either when I was talking about it a few days ago, but I did when I read that. Kowalewski.

Yup, that's him. I don't remember how many times I've walked down that street in front of some guard looking guy and said "hey" as we passed and he said the same back at like 5 AM. If only they knew.......Beer mugs, tricorders, and all.

Naw, we brought that stuff with us. In case we ran into a bum or a a gnome. Security has usually been known for their, I'm trying to think of a way to say this without using the words stupid, lazy, or jerking off. Well either way they usually thought it was like every other uneventful night in their lives, and just one more night that we weren't there. We even learned how to get a free six-pack with a letter and a stamp.

I just heard that both peter cooper & hynite are slated for demo this summer now that the asbestos is all gone, along with slovay coke finally on the chopping block now that the EPA is finished with cleanup. I'm sure that's been heard before, but since in the last 3 years milwaukee has removed 2/3 of the abandonments that have been here for 15+ years, I don't think that they're kidding.

Ive been here about 10 times. I have only seen 1 cop driving down the road. I seen him driving passed on are last trip then he drives passed and dosnt say anything but has more cops patrol. No problem just stay on the left side of the street and as soon as you can go down the hill and on the other side of the fence.

unless some other jerkoffs were the ones that pissed someone else off before you got there and since the cops show up within the first hour or two after you call for trespassing in shitty old buildings that nobody cares much about. Sometimes even us elite Commandos get stuck in the suck and have a bit of bad luck. It's not always about not getting caught, but how you destroy the opposition. We chose kindness and stupidity, a 70/30 mix to be exact.

The du pont factory is between bender park and the glue factory. I think it has been converted into some sort of chemical storage facility. Most likely natural gas. There is a ton of construction and excavation going on at the site of the dupont factory, but no real building.
