|  | | | Dane, Ontario began as a small railway settlement near Kirkland Lake. It's importance was due to being the closest railway stop where miners and prospectors alike could disembark to make their way through the trails to the gold fields.
When the gold rush ended and the farmers moved on, Dane became not such a great Dane... and fell off the map. Today it is a wasteland for derelict vehicles and a handful of weathering original homes. The old motel was levelled last year for safety reasons. It can be classified as a ghost town.

Yah I did them without much thought put into it. I'll have to go through the bunch and decide what to put into the DB.

There are perhaps eight homes along the road, half occupied and half abandoned.
Why the cars were left there, I surmise that as one becomes older and unable to tend to your property, that you use it as a dumping ground for your unwanted vehicles and trailers.
Given more daylight time, there was talk of some early 1900's vehicles in the bush that we needed to see.

While exploring that house, a truck pulled into the driveway. A worn looking fellow asked what we were doing there. I explained that we were just taking photos, not stealing or vandalizing. This seemed to appease him and he said that the owner didn't like people who caused problems on the property. Having been reassured that our intentions were good, he let us continue on our exploration.
It's a small community, very small so if anyone does venture into this neck of the woods you can almost certainly expect the same visit unless you hide your vehicle.
A useless bit of trivia for you.
