| | | I would like to be notified when someone edits the information on locations I list in the database. I just read through one of mine, quite by accident, and found many spelling errors and factual misrepresentations, or at least information that I do not want attributed to me. I think this is only fair, otherwise I for one will not be submitting any more sites.

| | | One thing -- does the UEDB works mainly on the honor system as far as editing things (e.g. anyone can edit anything)? Should the person who created the location have some higher level of control over it? Or do they already? I know this is a very open-ended query, but I am just curious as to how the system works currently.

| | | I took the approach of the WiKi: Anyone can edit anything, except the site keeps complete backups of the previous versions, and admins (currently only me) can restore an older version with a single click. -av

| | | Av, I would love to see the Database be used to provide actual info, and not as an arena for territorality and petty insults. Isn't this what the database was intended for? For example, I added Dixmont Asylum in Pennsylvania. The information I added was modified by another member to give the impression that the site is hard to access. Nothing could be further from the truth. If the person who edited it had stated "hey, this is me not Kriss, and I think that the place is hard to get into", I wouldn't have had a problem. Whatever floats thier particular little boat. However, that is not what happened, and when I objected and added an addendum, the person in question stooped to insulting me personally in the database. I think that's pathetic. So, my next question is, is this the sort of thing we must expect when we add a site to the database? [last edit 2/20/2004 7:35 AM by Kriss - edited 1 times]

| | | The database is supposed to contain facts, not conjecture or personal info. If you two disagree about whether or not the site is easy or hard to access, just put "medium". Clearly, "easy" for one person could be "hard" for someone else.
