|  | | | Built by Jon and Drina Huff, some time in the 1820's or 1830's. The home originally had a crows nest, and several out buildings, two of which were slave quarters. The home has been abandoned for approximately 100 years.
Local legend states that the entire family met untimely deaths, including at least 2 suicides. Naturally the home is thought to be haunted. The legend is most likely false, but the family did die out, with the last known relative living two hundred fifty miles away.
The home was an important part of my youth, as it was for many children from the surrounding area. Relatives, friends, and/or Scout Leaders would take kids there and scare the crap out of them. This has been a tradition for at least 60 years, as my father used to visit the home with his Boy Scout troop, in the early 1950's.
The home and land were purchased, in the late 1980's or early 1990's, and rebuilding work was started. However, all work ceased in 1993, and the home has remained vacant. It appears that the new owner either ran out of money, or passed away.
