I have worked private security and university security at a variety of details. The standard procedures for us were to avoid all physical contact unless someone is in immediate danger. Though, I have had coworkers violate this and not severely repremanded. Some security officers (especialy campus or university security for big name schools) work rather closely with police and might be ballsy enough to chase you but in my experience the protocol would have only to follow to keep police updated on an individual'l location so a sworn officer could reprimand. Normally leaving the grounds/site/location/what ever would suffice in ditching the gaurd. Our main goal would be to get the individual to leave the premises. This is the midwest and pretty consistant at my places of employment.

You should post a photo of the signs you have at work saying "IF YOU SEE MAX ACTION TACKLE HIM" or something to that effect. But other than female freshman dorm rooms, there isn't anything to explore at that place.

that would be hilarious. I don't think anyone has talked about the action squad at my work for a long time though.

I'm in the same boat as you actually. I've found a few spots around here, but I'm keeping my eyes open for more.

alot of spots seem to be picked over by past explorers but they seem interesting to me anyway, I mean, I have never been there. I know of some entrances to a few sites. One site I know how to get in but it doesn't look like a fun place to explore anymore and the other all the entrances points are secured

dude, its not a handout, its an invitation. I'm looking for people to go with that are already rooted in the area rather than fumbling around by myself

Find a local forum and post on it and meet up with the locals if they have public events or ask them to meet up at a coffee shop or something to talk about exploring. As with a LOT of adventurous hobbies, urban explorers don't usually just give away location information to strangers. Too many bad things happen. Cavers are many times more secretive! Rock climbers occasionally keep their best spots among trusted buddies so the whole world doesn't go there. Others do it too. Granted, some of the reasons are selfish because people are dicks, but other reasons are because when too many people find out about it the authorities find out more easily and the place gets locked down. Or vandals hear about it through the grapevine and trash the place to shit. There are many justifiable reasons for not posting location info publically.

And one must question the motivations of a security guard from an institution that is known for keeping a tight watch on their tunnels.

I want to be different. But I want to be different just like everybody else, because if I really were different, everybody would think I was crazy and weird.

Security guard. I'm quite fine meeting a security guard who's only on duty when he's on duty ;)

Now why would you just ask someone to show you this stuff? It seems this hobby may not be for you. Half the fun or better is finding shit on your own. Otherwise they would offer tours. Now that's an idea, I know of several mines, caves, and the like that offer tours. Hey you could always check out some haunted houses, it is that time of year, most can be seen for under 5 bucks.

I would say half the sites have been picked over......at first for all the easy copper. Then as the price went up, for the rest. It wasn't explorers as such.

If you're a security guard, maybe you could go exploring with our local FBI informant!

That doesn't make sense, none of this adds up. Why are all these guys interested in exploring lately? If you work security at the U doesn't that put you in a great position to scout for stuff? Dude that would be like the ultimate job. Where can I apply?

So I was at work today and some guy on the facilities staff offered to take me down to check out the steam tunnels while he was doing maintenance. I didn't get to check out a whole lot, but it was a pretty cool distraction from work.
