| | | | Some members' favorite site... < on 9/29/2008 1:09 AM >
| | | I spent a few hours in the chapel on Saturday morning. It was a dull, dreary, rainy morning, and it was a beautiful building in the dim, half-light filtering in through the windows. It's no wonder everybody loves this place.
Shot from inside the casket... dipped my camera in by the tripod on timer and prayed there was nothing inside.
Amazing place. Im so glad I took the time to get in there. [last edit 9/29/2008 4:37 PM by velcrozeppelin - edited 3 times]

| | | I was just going to sit on these pictures since they're only of the tower, but since Velco started up this thread, I'll add my tower set. Basically I just popped in one afternoon just to go up and check out the sights while I had no internet/elec at home from a storm the previous night. #1 This photo pissed me off. Something happened while loading the film and the left side of the aisle got overexposed. Had to crop it. The same thing happened to a favorite shot at another location last week. I'm going to have to start taking doubles on the first shot or not being stupid.
(I don't think this last one is actually from the top of the tower, but I liked this shot better than the rest of the tower shots.)

I didn't make it into the tower because a stupid pigeon flew in front of my flashlight beam in the stairwell, spazzed, and riled up probably 10 to 20 more pigeons. Ugh. Rats with wings.

| | | Ahh yah, that's probably smart you backed off then. The tower isn't anything great, I like the chapel itself better. Hehe, yah, it's definitely an art form working with those pigeons. It usually takes me a good 30-45 minutes getting up there sometimes so there are no casualties and I don't get pooped on.

| | | I made sure to spend more time in the basement, clearly. It was creepy and amazing.

| | | I guess I might depend on the weather and breeding cycle/population of the pigeons. The last two times I've been the piles were thick, but rock hard. I could stand on a 6" pile and it wouldn't even move. I was more concerned about the dust than the poo-smears

| | | I think the best part of the morning was the omelet after the exploration. Nothing like taking your revenge out on birds by eating them in one form or another. [last edit 9/30/2008 1:21 PM by velcrozeppelin - edited 1 times]

It bears repeating. Especially for such a beautifully preserved site.
