D.c. Tunnel system

One of the guys at work the other day mentioned to me about a tunnel system stretching from Arlington National Cemetary into D.c. He was saying that one of the old entrances to the tunnel system was in one of the Headquarters buildings on Ft Myer in the old prison down stairs. And that it was sealed off. The other piece of information that he had was that another entrance to the tunnels was in Georgetown. I've heard about them before but this is the first time in awhile that someones mentioned them or gave a possible entry location. Does anyone in the D.c. area know anything about it?

All I've read about are massive drains, and the closed metro stop. Sounds promising though. Do you know if its active? If you could get any definitive locations on entrances I'd be more than happy to check them out.

No I don't think it is. From what I understand its over a hundred years old. But then again it might be in use, theirs a lot of stuff like that being used today. And if not this tunnel system I'd love to hear about the old metro stop and such. Actually the guy who told me about it has ran through the metro tunnels before late at night to get home after missing the train.

http://www.clouse....20Subway%20Station

It used to be the trolley systems spot, and was briefly a food court.

Wikipedia
In 1949, a traffic tunnel for was constructed as part of the now-defunct Capital Transit streetcar project. The streetcar system featured an underground station beneath the circle to help alleviate traffic by allowing trams and vehicles traveling along Connecticut Avenue to pass through unimpeded.[5] When streetcar service ended in 1962, the entrances to underground station were filled in and paved over, leaving only the traffic tunnel. In 1995, developer Geary Simon renovated the streetcar station as a food court called "Dupont Down Under"; the project ultimately failed, and was shut down a year later.[6]

In 2007, plans circulated to transform the underground area into a number of adult clubs, possibly to replace several gay bars that were forced out by the building of the Nationals Park baseball stadium. However, opposition from the community largely stalled any further planning, and the space remains unused.[7] The Dupont Circle Metro Station is completely separate from the abandoned underground streetcar station; Metrorail trains operate nearly 200 feet underground, far deeper than the original streetcars.[8]

I didn't realize it was dupont circle though, I'll have to check it out the next time I'm down there..

I have heard this rumor!
There are sadly, no tunnels.

Well if anyone else knows some places to go around D.c. that would be great. I'm currently looking at a place near my folks house in MD, but its alittle hard to get to right now and the other problem is that its got a business park withnin view. Gotta be careful you know.
