Has anyone been in here lately, theres one obvious, if not the only way in, however it leads into the basement which is flooded. i was wondering if anyones waded through the water which appears not to be that deep, or just in general whats up with this location, ill probably been back sooner rather than later just looking for some information.

Last time I was there the water at its deepest was 2 inches, and that was in the spring.

That it was.
I used to drive by that place when it was still active and saw it going through its partial demolition.

I believe the place was actually called "Victory Soya Mills".

Here's the link to the location in the LDB: http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=25477

They have been doing a lot of 'clearing' work near it as of late. Once inside, all the stairs have been knocked out/fallen and cleared (just like the outside). Considering its ease, I'd say it's neat if you're in the area, and the HUGE chunks of old building around it (what they are clearing) are interesting, especially since you don't notice them until you're right up near the silos. Using Google, you can see what the place looked like when it was in use - it was the sister to the Canada Malting Company Plant, but much larger.

Here are a couple snaps from a trip I took there last year:

There was another large set of silos between Victory and Yonge that were a few yards off the side of the Gardener. I recall them being knocked down around the early 80's as well.

so wait, to summarize, the water is shallow (which i pretty much already could tell) but all the stairs are knocked out? cause i definately saw a staircase leading from the basement to the first floor which wasnt knocked out.

so theres no way of getting to the upper floors?

Uh, there is no first floor. There a floor at the very top which is accessible only by hang glider.

HMCS Charlottetown is parked nearby this weekend and is probably a more interesting thing to check out than the Soy Mill.

There is nothing, just bottom of silos and a random office looking room.

check the database for pix, there is no stairs or ladder to the top. the original building was leveled, they left the silo's there to tease us!
