A weekend of urban exploring

Urban Exploring for September 6, 2008. Mike, Matt and myself explored the Gilewski Funeral Home, a long abandoned factory just across the alley from the funeral home, a burned out house near the corner of Klinger and Carpenter (Detroit side) and a school by the I75 service drive. We TRIED to enter the West wing of the former North Detroit General/Greater Detroit General Hospital, but the doors were all welded shut. Also, I should point out that I explored the funeral home twice before (once in '07 and earlier in '08) and the school once before (in '08) Highlights of this excursion are categorized by location. Also, the locations are set up in the order that we visited them. The entire excursion went from roughly 8pm until 12:30 am.

*Gilewski Funeral Home - This time around, Mike found the basement stairs! I had never noticed them before because the sliding type of door that covered the doorway make it look like just another closet. We went down and found a double large sink, hot water heater, furnace, some instructions for funeral processions and a few miscellaneous/inconsequential items.
Mike also found a small closet/storage space I did not see on my previous 2 trips to this location. There was a tiny postage scale (which I took) as well as a box of fresh business cards and a stack of burial release forms. (I took one of each as a souvenir). I still believe, however that the embalming was done in the upstairs blue tiled room as opposed to the "creepy basement" (in Mike's words)
Although heavily damaged by scavengers, this building was actually the most rehabable next to the school. Estimated time spent at this location: 25 minutes.

*The factory (name unknown) - This building has been abandoned/open to trespass MUCH longer than the funeral home and is tied with the house in being the most destroyed/least rehabable of the four structures we visited. Undoubtedly fire damaged, this structure has several large, gaping holes in the ceiling and at least two of the support beams have collapsed. Foliage grows around the entire building and it is only accessible via the alleyway between it and the funeral home. Several pieces of furniture as well as at least 2 tires had been dumped there and a bit of graffiti was evident. Most dangerous of all, this location contained at least three open pits (roughly the size of an average manhole) full of grease and/or sewer water! I attempted to film while in this building, but it was far too dark even with the night lens turned on.
Mike managed to find and take a working hose winder (for lack of the proper term) and took that with him. Estimated time spent at this location: 30 minutes.

*The house - This structure had been completely gutted by fire (so severely, in fact, that there were literally NO stairs left for the second floor!) and, as such, is a complete loss. Oddly enough, there were items of furniture that had been dumped by the side of the house that were definitely NOT included in the blaze. The damage to this house was so extensive that, not counting debris dumped after the fire, we were only able to recognize two items that (barely) showed any recognizable sign of past occupancy: The sink and the adjacent commode. There was a basement but, due to the severity of the damage, we decided against chancing a trip downward.Estimated time spent at this location: 10 minutes.

*The school (name unknown) - This building is by far the least vandalized of the four locations. The only new items we found this time around was the boy's room and a keyboard (musical) that may still be functional. I think we went in literally EVERY single room of this structure this time around! Estimated time spent at this location: 90 minutes or more. To gain access, after some debate and a couple of aborted attempts, Matt and Mike simply had me stand in their hands and boosted me up to the second story.
I was then able to get in via an open window (while standing on the little plateau area), walk down the stairs and push the main door open for them on the ground floor.
