Go for the 2 chocolate donuts. They taste better than the dollar and it will give you a reason to use that thing.

Who me? As you already know I could eat all the chocolate donuts in the world and still not have to worry about using that contraption.

Very nice location. I lived in Houston for about 7 years ago but not recently. I would love to have one of those old projectors. Used to run a set like that.

I actually currently do pro Audio Video Installation and would really like to know about how old they are ? My friend and I we're already plotting on how we could disassemble them and sneak em out. We both came to the conclusion that is probably a bad idea for the obvious legal reasons.

Dollars to donuts nobody on this list under 35 even knows what that thing is. (Hint: Think Jenny Craig meets June Cleaver.) I haven't seen one in person since I was a little kid. Awesome!

Way under 35 and know what that thing is . That's why I had to get a pic ! I'll take , um donuts . You only live once right ?

Yeah, that would not be a good idea at all, for several reasons. If you have a picture of the other side of the projector, the side that opens where you load the film, I can give you a rough idea of how old it is.

Hey, pillowhair, I've seen that hotel (Heaven on Earth) and heard a little about it, we're talking about the one downtown that is really visible from 59, right? I've really wanted to check out both that one and the Savoy. But given the area and state of the buildings, I was wondering about crackhouse/gang style activity. Is it pretty calm over there?

Went into the Savoy Field (smaller building of the 2)about a month ago and all the floors on one side of the building have collapsed into the basement. Place has bird poo so thick it looks like mud on the floors . All I had was my phone so the pics are not the best.

Oh and no gang style crackhead activity any times I've been down there. Downtown has cleaned up quite a bit. Just stay away from the Greyhound bus station and you'll be alright .

I don't have a pic of the inside but found the Projector amp found nearby was made in 1952. Kinda gives me some general idea. Thanks !

This place is actually closer to Galena Park. The Heaven on Earth inn I think now is too much trouble for what its worth. I've only been able to get in once about 3 months ago through a vent in the underground parking levels, but they have fenced that area up pretty good since then. Most of it had been cleaned out so there is not much to look at. At the time that i went there i didn't
have a camera, and every time i pass by there i see new security measures so i would kinda pass over this exploration.

That was one of my first concerns when I first went in there, but to my surprise it was actually pretty quiet. Really I think its safer in those buildings then the streets of Downtown.

Well you're on the side I'm talking about, but I'm talking about the body of the projector where the lens and sprockets are located.

Those pictures do tell me a few things about it, that it is a Simplex machine like the ones I used to run at the twin cinema in my home town. Just off the top of my head I'm going to guess that they are from the 60's, but show me the body of it if you have a pic.

Yes, except I need to see the other side of that section of it. Thats the back part of the main projector body.
