Open House

Well I was riding my bike to check out a potential outfall. The outfall was big enough but there was a tad too much water to go in with my sneakers on. On my ride back I saw a little house. As I got closer I noticed some noise. I investigated and there were some rooftop workers working next to an abandoned house. After I locked up my bike I walked to the house. The fence was slightly ajar so I let myself in. I took a few pics. I had to leave quick though, 'cause i had to go see a movie with some friends in about an hour (My trip to the outfall was a scouting mission to see if it would be big enough). So anyways, here are some crap pics I got from the excursion.

Explorer's response: Awesome place! I can totally picture how thrilling it would be to clamber on through that big window... Did you go all the way in? Was there a basement?

Photographer's response: I actually like a couple of these shots, the first one almost looks intentionally vignetted around the top left, and the light balance is really cool. I also love the feeling of texture from the deteriorating paper stuff...

Reminds me why I like abandonments so much!

Nah, Richmond's on sea level so no basements here. I didn't get a chance to check out the whole house. I did my best with the photos. The rest were kinda blurry. I'm going to see if I can borrow a tripod or use my tiny 10 inch tripod. And there was a chair beside the stool so I couldn't really call it a "lonely chair".
The door was wide open. Okay, it was just gone. Still, I did climb through the window just for kicks. It was pretty fun. Unfortunately at that point someone decided to drive by (it was a side street so it was very unlucky). So that also added to my instincts to gtfo besides going to see The Dark Knight in IMAX (It was good).

Normally I'm not terribly excited by an abandoned house, but I thought this was interesting because I saw a photo essay in this month's Geist magazine that also featured abandoned houses in Richmond. The photos, from Brian Howell, show leftovers and wrecked homes from the edges of Surrey (Hwy 10, 150-190St). His photos are more of a professional quality, of course, but they're of the same interest as what you've posted here.

How far out in Surrey is this?

Edit: Oh, and any photos/infos of the drain?

It's just by McNair secondary. I'll PM you with info on the drain later. I'm going out for a more in-depth exploration of the house after taking pics of the drain.

Just came back. Here's the second batch of pics
It turns out it wasn't a single house, but two. Sorry in advance for the slight blurriness. I need a tripod
