People have known about Centralia for a long, long time. My mom has even went - and she's not an explorer. I live in Cali now, so I can't go - but just go and do it before it gets harder to do. I'd have to scan pics as they were taken with a non-digital camera. The locals there are jerks...so go with friends. And don't forget to bring masks for VOC's. The place STINKS of rotten eggs and you'll be smelling it for days after.

Why would Centralia be harder to do? It's all open! It's just a couple of free standing houses, old steps, empty lots where houses once stood, a stretch of abandoned road with a crack in it, & three cemeteries. Oh, I how can I forget the Fire station. & center of town with the bench, memorial, & time capsule. If you blink you miss it.

Tourists stop at this location everyday.

No one stops you, there are no police!

The cemetery isn't burning anymore. Only the hill side/dumping ground where the pipes are in the ground.

It's pretty boring unless you are in the area doing something else.

My Aunt would drive us through Centralia in the 70's & 80's to see the smoke. I remember as the houses & businesses dwindled down over the years! I wish I took photos back then.

There must be quite a few things a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know any of them.
