Ya, you beat me too posting about it. It's just been within the past few hours too. I'm thinking that Shane should get to work. This is a deletion I'd stand behind 100%. I don't think it's the fact that they are construction parts as much as that they are like 1 liners that have really no good info, or for that matter any connection with UE aside from UE involves buildings.

because I can't type worth a Sh!7 today

IanK was putting word definitions...

Aside from the illiterate of this lovely forum, I don't see how that assists in furthering UE knowledge.

And those fine entries include!

Cinder Block - Block, which is used in construction and made of ash and cement.

I'm sorry but if people have to look in the UE encyclopedia to know what a cinder block is they shouldn't be involved in this hobby. The same goes for 95% of the posts

A few of his posts, such as 'cistern' could be relevant as structure you'd find in some locations, but it's completely unnecessary to know all of the building materials.

As you said, 95% of the posts are things people with this type of hobby should already know. But even Av (see flashlights), Crossfire (abandoned) and Jester (camoflague) have posted things everyone should already know. These things are obviously self explanatory and even my 9 year old cousin would know what they mean.

I'm not criticizing you three that I mentioned (I love you guys ), I'm just using the management as examples.

Edit: Left out part of a sentance and it made no sense if I left it alone.

I think the competition for stars is getting to them. Making everyone crazy. Fortunately, I have no stars and don't want any special ones (except for maybe one that looks like a bear and has a special meaning only for me).

True, but they are things a nine year old knows that definition of. I wasn't even saying that I necessarily object to them being there, I was just giving examples of the "higher ups" (you know, like on the UER ladder) that have put up things everyone would know.

You'd think so, but do a search on the forum for camo discussions, and how many times I've had to explain exactly why and How it has helped me on some missions and you'll see why I posted it...

This has been bugging me as well. If the forum at large seems to think trimming is in order, I can do that. The last time the moderators tried to neaten up the forum, everyone got all pissed off, and SHane took the brunt of it. Let's not let that happen again with this.

you can't make everybody happy. It's the encyclopedia, not a message board after all.

UER is a great idea and I love the LDB... but this forum sucks my ass. later

I've gone through and tried to take out a lot of the entries that don't really apply or were very poorly entered and deemed worthless.

If anyone else has suggestions for entries that should go, please post them here.

In the future, let's strive to make sure that entries posted in the encyclopedia meet these basic guidelines:
  • on-topic (should apply to urban exploration and appeal to or be useful to a large percentage of the population of these fora)
  • factual (take the time to research the topic and get the facts right instead of omitting them or guessing)
  • abundant in information and details (pack in lots of good info and make it worth reading)
  • concise (don't waste space with boring, uncomprehensive, or off-topic jabber)

Sound good?

I wish there was more specific isting of what we can and cant post on the encyclopedia. There are tons of words that are of grade 1 calibre in there ike Police Officer, Security Gaurd, ect...

I thought building info was something that would come in handy at sometime. Maybe I did go a little overboard, but there was some pretty usefull posts I made in there. Oh well, I stopped so no need to worry
