can you ride your bike down the railway track?...

Absolutely, but it is a long trail and this building is just off the regular road, so you don't need it. There are a couple of neat ghost towns along the trail, but the detours might make a motorized vehicle more practical. Some go into the bush several kilometers.

And yes - watch the ATV's - especially now.

What ghost towns are those? Are you referring to the ones along the main road (eg. Swords) or are there some unpublished ones?

Seguin Falls is just down the trail a bit, some of the buildings there are now occupied, but it is still a ghost town.

A new book came out this summer which deals with Muskoka ghost towns including Swords.

Edit: Something about the authors bothers me. They seem to have a penchant for taking home 'souveniers' from the places that they visit.

Tally Ho! ;)

En garde!

Speaking of taking home souvenirs, Legacy Building Materials in Cobourg has entire facades from abandoned sites in their parking lot. http://www.legacyvintage.com/ Shock and piss off when I dropped by their store -- it's like Black Creek Pioneer Village all in one parking lot, salvaged *cough* looted *cough*, and up for sale.

I visited this general store years ago, always figured it would turn up for sale at Legacy -- fortunately it hasn't, yet.

Legal: this is my personal opinion, and not intended to be slander!
