| | | When you're in a big group, everyone becomes way overly relaxed, just because they're in a big group. Don't underestimate the strength of that effect, especially on less experienced explorers. Also, like someone mentioned above, the law of the least common denominator. The group can only move as fast as their slowest runner, go through holes as small as the largest person, be as brave as the least brave person, and will often be as stupid as the stupidest person. If one person decides to steal or vandalize, the whole group could be responsible. Decide on the number of people you feel comfortable going with (I think 2-4 is pretty reasonable) and stick to it!

| | | I've been "busted" by security patrol during a meet once with just under 30 other explorers and due to our size it actually kept us from going to jail since they couldn't find a way to take us all in. It also helped that none of us were pricks to the security guy so we only got a stern warning on safety hazards otherwise he would have taken a few of us to jail as a lesson to the others he informed us. Bottom line: When shit hits the fan, because at some point it will, are these people you would trust with your life or to help keep you out of jail? If you're comfortable with those answers then take them.
I'm overly dramatic online AND I only explore for validation. I'm a double threat. |

| | | In my opinion, it really depends on WHO you're taking with you. When I first started UEing, it was just myself and a friend. Of course that didn't last long; we soon had a group of six or so, and it continued to increase in size. It was hard at first. Newcomers generally wouldn't have the experience or equipment, and would be hesitant, backtrack, or get in the way. But if everyone actually knew what they were doing, and had some UE experience, I think of a group of 10-20 might be manageable. Still, I'd want to be confident in every team member. UE is neither babysitting nor tour-guiding, and 10 newcomers would be disastrous.

| | | yea, I have created a rule that I will not go with more than 5 people ever, and there can be maximum 2 newbies, otherwise it's too much to handle, but not afraid to take into account the individual people and their gear (one in particular brings nothing, but will do stuff the others won't so I'm cool with that, meanwhile someone else will bring some aight gear, but not go somewhere, etc).
If you want to protect the locations you love to explore, don't talk about them online in public! If you want to make exploring friends, send people private messages! Meet up in real life! Get off the internet! Don't try to have a UER e-penis! You won't impress anyone! This especially means you, Minneapolis MN newbies! |

| | | I have a lot of friends that don't belong to UER, I usually take them. The problem with that is they never bring they're own flashlights and stuff cause we don't plan ahead we just go if we see something worth going in to. Other times a buddy of mine from UER goes with me and we plan it out usually, which always seems to work out better. So usually around 2-5 people at a time.

Actually, three people is a good number to me.
