Still learning my way with the tripod. These were shot with a 12-22mm and a 50mm. Critique the shit out of them. I am going back soon to practice lightpainting inside the actual theatre hall.

Is Mickey Mouse placed by the rat poison on purpose or was it found that way?

I’m quite positive that you’ve slept with someone uglier than me, and I’m sure I’ve slept with someone hotter than you. So let’s just call it a draw.

I favor 5 and 6, 5 more so.

No shots of the actual theatre area? Or was it too dark?

Pitch black, even at a 2-minute exposure. And my lightpainting is shit, so im going back to practice that sometime soon and Ill post them once I'm happy with my technique. There is so much left in there to look at that I'm too preoccupied to take pictures. These are all actually from my third visit.

Wow looks like an amazing site!! All the theaters I've been in have been really trashed... Nice shots, good composition.... I'd love to see the chairs too. Lightpainting chairs is hard though...

Check out my photo blog!

Thanks guys. It is a great site; it still has basically everything inside it. The guy who owns it had to shut it down because it wasn't making enough money, but the town wants to reopen it. Problem is he doesnt have the money to restore it. Hopefully it will happen eventually.

Anyways.... anyone have any more specific criticism? I'll probably be back to take more shots over the weekend, so I'd like some input as to what I can be doing better. I am happy with the direction I'm headed, but I've still got a lot to learn and some constructive criticism can go a long way.

I can't say anything bad about your compos, but especially in 1, 2 and 7 you go for a very classical approach, all straight lines etc. There's nothing wrong with that and it delivers great shots, but if you want to go back and try something different, just go bizerk. Forget all the photography rules about composition, try some extreme angles, comps no-one would’ve ever thought of. Or just dof the hell out of all the details you can find over there, I can imagine there must be some great details in a place like that.

agreed! 5 & 6 are nice details shots. And like telefunker said: go weird! nobody's holding you back and if it sucks afterwards...don't put it up here hehehe but seriously if you want to learn stuff you got to try it all out and then find your own style / way.

Also, in #4, I wonder what was on the wall behind the paint? Old paper or posters? Looks neat.
EDIT: Or was that over the paint and ripped off? Can't quite tell...

There is some real history in these shots! Numbers 4, 5, 6 and 7 are all pieces of history! I love the old school colored 3D glasses in #4. Photographically, 4 and 5 are my favs.
