I have rolled out a new version of my website. If you don't mind giving it a run through and some feedback please post up any comments you have about it. I'm fairly sure it's bug free.

It's written in PHP which took roughly 4 days.

It's designed for firefox (Still works in IE) at a res >= 1280x1024.

Very nice.

I would code my website this way, but I don't have the time or the knowledge.
A book on my bookshelf has the knowledge, but I'm lazy.

A couple quick suggestions from someone trained in website usability (but not in designing them).

-Move the banner and headbar over to the left. Right now the page just feels too wide.
-Consider making the entry descriptions narrower.
-Maybe put the orange text column on the left over on the right instead.
-It's probably too much to ask that the thumbnails more closely resemble the shape of the entire photograph, rather than being cropped into squares. For example, look how the UE DB sizes thumbnails.
-I'm not a fan of thumbnails at all. It means people aren't going to look at all the photos, and they might miss some good ones that lose their subtlety when shrunk down.
-In the stories pages, you might need a better contrasting text for the story title.

Anyway, just so you don't think I'm being negative, here are a few compliments:
-I like the colour scheme.
-I like the background image.
-I like the attention to detail put into the stories.
-Of course I like the pictures.

Thanks Racetraitor,

I'll take that advice into consideration and adjust where possible.

Some of those drains pics are very nice. The natural rock drain is very intriguing.

Just looking at the front page I would suggest simplifying things, but that's a personal preference no insider knowledge or anything. Along those same lines, what does the tall grass image have to say? It seems misplaced. Also, why even have the grey border? Just stretch the background to cover the entire screen--my inner eye wants there to be different information in the grey area. Now, that is insider knowledge, not just a personal preference. When we see difference we want it to do something not just be different.

You betcha
