| | | The building behind the trailer is the expanded section of the hospital used to house patients and catering versus the staff and facilities on the other side of the road. The building behind the trailer also houses whats left of the "morgue."
As to going in the middle of the day, you have a much lower chance of being caught, and if they do manage to see you, its clear that you're not trying to vandalize anything or hide yourselves from the cops. A heads up though, they run K9 training during some days in the summer and if you decide to go at night they have an active watchman as well as like 60 dumbass teenagers running around and breaking stuff. I parked right in front of the trailer as a sign of good faith to the PGCPS and they didn't have a problem when they ran into me and listened to my story.
Also, stay off the water tower, thats just retarded for a multitude of reasons, safety and visibility included. [last edit 8/1/2008 6:21 AM by Construct - edited 1 times]

| | | i was there today and the police trailer looked empty, there wasnt even a car parked there but everything seemed to have been boarded up pretty recently. it was hard to find a way in but i did look around the childrens hospital which was huge. there is so much to explore here.

| | | Posted by steph yo I've been wanting to go here for awhile, but I've been waiting for someone who's actually been there before. Is it worth a 2 hour drive?
|
I went yesterday and after a two hour drive I only got to see the adult building (fail thanks to n00b who drove, but he paid for gas so win). It was still pretty good, if you see the whole campus I imagine it would defiantly be worth it.

| | | Did anyone happen to make it to the historical society's event on the hospital grounds last month? I doubt it, seeing as how I was a good 30+ years younger than anyone else there, but it was really great. Former staff (including the doctor and nurse who locked the doors the day it closed) and a patient spoke, and all had great things to say about their experiences there. If any of you remember the December 2006 article on Glendale in the Washington Post, the author of that article spoke, and her mother (who was a patient for several months before it was discovered she did not in fact have tuberculosis) was there as well. After the presentation, a bus drove people around the grounds, and the former staff on our tour pointed out the places that they and other friends/co-workers lived, where they worked, etc. It was a really interesting event, and I suggest checking in with the PG County historical society for similar events in the future. No one was allowed inside of course, and they were very quick to stop any talk of hauntings, UE, etc. Understandable. [last edit 11/10/2008 7:25 PM by Pariah - edited 1 times]

| | | It's best to park on the East side - you can drive your car right up to the buildings. Park wherever you want on the campus - just don't leave any valuables in sight.

| | | Hmm... I may have to go visit this location when I take my vacation time. It'll depend more on my best friend, but she's up for travelling anywhere if you give her gas money.
