| | | Just one for consideration. Constructive criticism is welcomed. How would you shoot this? What would you do differently? Is the composition even worth keeping? In this shot, I was trying to show the connection of human life to the building the relics were found in. Did I accomplish this? Go to town folks. Thanks for your time. Tech: EOS 30D w/ 50mm f/1.8 ef lens @ ISO 160 with in camera noise reduction on. In-camera Custom Profile: sharpness -1 contrast +1 saturation +1. Post-Pro: RAW format >>> ACR [fill light boost, recovery boost, saturation reduction] >>> Photoshop CS3 [Vignetting, S-Curve, USM: 20% | .1 | 0 Levels] [last edit 6/8/2008 7:39 PM by Felonious Monk - edited 1 times]

| | | I like it. I would maybe make it not quite so dark in places. But it does look good.

| | | I'm no pro, but here's what I thought: I think you captured the essence you were going for. I got the feeling that someone had just finished work for the day, and set there stuff down on the table.(Why they need shotgun shells for work I don't know though) However, without all of the editing, I don't think the picture would be as strong. Also, it's darker on the right side and lighter on the left, making the vignetting look uneven which distracts me a little. Depending on the lighting situation(seems dark) I probably would have gotten a little closer, as the buckets in the background bug me a little. Who knows maybe, I've just got ADD. Good shot nonetheless

| | | I generally with David Dong's comment, but it's a fine line...too much lighter and the mood is ruined. I would very subtly bring out the shadow areas, just a bit. Nice shot and compo!

| | | The only reason I was hesitating about upping some of the shadow detail is then I think the photo loses focus in composition. I left it dark because I wanted your eye to fall on the ammo box first, then the glove, then the chain, then lastly I wanted your eye to wander and attempt to collect the detail. I think when the shadow detail is brought out much more it lends to a distracting muddled composition. That being said, maybe it is just a weak comp to begin with?

| | | the photo is good in the sense that the subject is very clear and well presented to the viewer, but the main problem w/ the post work is anyone who has ever used the "vignette" feature can instantly identify it when it is used that strong. in dark corners it is no big deal but in the upper left the faux shadow is quite apparent.
