How useful would it be to have a section on legal affairs of UE? a central location for the know-your-rights types... Even going so far as to break it down by location.

I think not a whole other forum section; but perhaps people can collect info on trespassing and whatnot in their area which could all be amassed on it's own page once it's completed.

So there I was, in this creepy old hallway...

Personally I believe a central resource of laws, legal rights and perhaps statute of limitations concerning trespassing in various states, provinces and countries would be an excellent idea for those who are truly serious about exploring. Not to mention it would provide the best sort of resource to let new explorers know exactly what kind of risks are involved in an explorer's lifestyle or hobby.
Many other hobbies outline the risks of persuing their individual craft quite plainly. I don't see why UE should be any different.
Of course, lots of people jump into new things without knowing the risks, and that will unfortunately probably continue, but I do think, It would benefit everyone to have a forum or category similar to the UE terms that does nothing but outline the risks of UE, including laws, health risks etc.
Honestly I think it would be a fine step towards making UER being even more complete and a greater resource overall.

good points. I just don't think it needs a forum section. Perhaps a well researched web page could be put together. The data doesn't change much, and little discussion would go on, so there isn't much use to have it be a forum section.

I think it would be nice to have a website like Krazy mentioned but, the mass of information would limit its practicality. Think of how many Countries, states, provinces, counties, cities etc. all with differing laws concerning trespassing etc. It would be next to impossible to collect all that info.

I see your point but I think it would be nice to have a resource for explorers going to places they are not familiar with to be able to at least get a feel for the laws. For example: I don't know what right's I would have in Canada if I were to be approached by a law enforcement officer. I would assume I'd carry the same rights as in the states but I don't know, I'd only have guesses to go on. Would they have the right to search me without my consent/reasonable cause? I don't know. I think a well organized database at the very least international laws and definitions would be a really nice thing to have. Some info is always better than none at all.

Maybe a separate webpage would be the better idea, especially due to the fact that the laws that UE is concerned with is pretty limited. I am trying to research the laws in various states in regards to the difference between tresspassing and breaking and entering (a very thin line). It is also hard to find anything referring to entering upon public utility owned places without the intent of commiting a crime.

This forum didn't get this advanced overnight, and a site with so much info wouldn't either, it would take time, effort and lots of people helping with source material. In my opinion it is doable. If you start to build it, the info and organization will come.

We can't let ourselves become intimidated merely because the task is difficult.
