| | | Flour Factory - Leiden - NL < on 5/27/2008 5:50 PM >
| | | In 1883 the land was bought by A. Koole and in 1884 A. Koster was brought in and together they set up the flour factory. Around 1900 two big fires almost completely destroyed all of the buildings. From 1928 till 1947 the new factory was build as how it exists today. The flour factory was one the biggest in the country in it's glory days. The factory was bought by Meneba - a company from Rotterdam - in 1964. Overcapacity ment a shutdown for the production in 1988. Administration was still active for a couple of years. The highest silo was the first building in the Netherlands that was pulled up of concrete and the oldest factory still standing was a steel skeleton that was bricked up afterwards. 01

| | | Excellent set (as always). 3, 5 and 6 hit me most at this time. Damned that I am jealous about those factories that you have there... That scene is very bad here in Finland, everything is in use... Even the work situation ain't good in here.

| | | True to form. Phenomenal. I always feel like I should say which I like best but it's impossible to pick one over another.

| | | 2,4,5,6 I fucking love that wire end...what a good eye you have. Critique? Ummm... 1 lacks a strong subject. 3 needs a little more drama I think...maybe bump the contrast or burn some shadows in. 4 is 99% of the way there, I just would have moved a little closer. You just need a sliver on the left side to box it in and I think the right side you don't really need the dark as a frame. I think the comp would be more dramatic that way. Just nitpicking though. These are phenomenal, as always.

| | | thanks all!! @ Desmet: I love your nitpicking, this helps a lot! I still feel #4 was not quite it...i've tried some crops, but lost the overview. So i gave up trying. You got some good critique points. I will try that in #4 and for sure will remember when shooting the next time. #3 a little more drama? I'll give that a try, never thought about that...somebody else commented that i should crop it so that overexposed top right corner is gone. Maybe that give the shot a more dramatic look..because it gets somewhat darker that way...

Any time and, again, these are ridiculously fantastic. I kinda like the top in #3...I sort of like it on the "bright sun pouring in and illuminating a dark room...chasing the shadows away" type level. That's why I would try to deepen the shadows a bit and pump the contrast...make that dark vs. light thing more dramatic. That's just how I see it though...I am known for being a contrast whore.
