I'll give you an honest critique.
The photo looks 'busy', as in there is nothing distinguishable for one to focus their attention on. The key thing that makes the photo distracting and busy is the tin can and the object in the upper-left (spray can?) which are both out of focus and also look out of place. Had the objects been out of the picture, it would look a lot better.
Looking long at the photo, I would say that the subject is the shoes, and yet, my eyes always go to the bright tin can in between them. Because the tin can is out of focus and also over-exposed, it takes a lot away from the overall appearance of the photo.

And I think "desmet" needs to apply for Simon Cowell's job on American Idol!
