| | | Kalamazoo Paper Mill Power Plant Demolition About To Begin < on 5/7/2008 4:33 AM >
| | | The power plant for the Bryant (Allied) Paper Mill in Kalamazoo, MI is all that remains of what was once among the largest of the "Paper City's" paper mills. The city demolished the mill buildings some years ago. Now, they are about to demolish the power plant for the mill, which was itself a fun and historic UE destination, despite suffering from quite a bit of vandalism. It is sad that the City of Kalamazoo has done nothing to preserve any of what formed the large portion of the city's economy for many decades. Last summer they also demolished the Kalamazoo Paper Company mill, which I unfortunately never made it to in time to UE it. This article: http://www.mlive.c...0436180.xml&coll=7 mentions that the plans were to demolish the Bryant power plant at the end of March, but they got delayed until May. It is now May, and demolition is taking place. The contractors say it will take a couple months to completely demolish it. Also, they are working day and night.
