Apartments at V Street

I recently went to check out the V street apartments listed in the database here, just because it was somewhere in D.C. which was close, and a place i'd never been.
Unfortunately, i forgot to check the weather forcast, AND so naturally it started raining....
but nonetheless, my friend and i circled the building 4 times, and eventually hopped through a 1st story window near a tree leaning on the building, that was elevated enough that we couldn't really get in easily. (the basement in the back, which had an open entrance, was flooded with about 2 feet of water, i'm not sure if it was deeper than usual because of the raining, but it was too deep for us that night, though in the future, that would be an ideal way to enter the building).
Once inside, there was a constant stream of loud residents and pedestrians walking by the buidling (most of it's windows have no boards on them, or those that do, can still be seen over or through), which made us kind of nervous, but then there were cops, constantly circling the building, it was a pretty bad night, and the escape was no fun....

There was yet another building to the right of the one we were in that was abandoned, but it was raining, and we were kind of frustrated, so i didn't investigate, but it'll be worth going back there for a second look i think while that building's still there.

But I think Wellington boots would be in order, and maybe a couple more in our crew to watch our backs carefully.

If anyone is planning on going out there though, drop me a line and maybe we can coordinate some, it'd be neat to see if we can get access to the building adjacent, which i think was a residential structure also, but it looks like they were attatched rowhouses or something. Be mindful of all the people, it's a frustratingly public location, though maybe it's just me, i haven't been around many buildings abandoned on street blocks before, mostly they've been complexes, forts, properties, etc.

It was the first time i lost my confidence in what i was doing though, so maybe it was good for me.

We took a few pictures, before we freaked and threw ourselves out the window, but i don't have them scanned yet, maybe i'll post them here later.

be careful buddy, that area is pretty bad. my wife and I took those pics ( my DB entry) and the locals dont like white folks.

the apartments are amazing though. im going back next weekend to check out 2 more complexes near by.

40+ year olds with Myspace pages are not cool, they are pediphiles on the prowl. Buyer beware.

Is there a good time to go? Or rather, a safer time?
Yeah i picked up on the 'bad part of town' vibe,
it was kinda scary... lol

My friend and i were pretty freaked, he's white, but i'm not... like... white, i'm not black either, i'm half sri-lankan and half portuguese... so i can pass as... um.. ethnic.

hah, but yeah, wasn't a good time to be there i suppose...

I'd really like to find more locations accessible on foot,
since i don't drive, and am pretty metro dependent, long exoduses to Maryland, while rewarding, aren't always very realistic, when i went to the seminary, that night, i got a lot of cool photos, but also didn't get home till 8:30 the next morning....
