these are grainy and blown out in areas, you should change the settings on your camera

Shooting at a 1600 ISO is the cause for such graininess in the first image. Try and stick with the 400 ISO setting you have in the rest of the shots.

Also, your SD1000 is supported by the firmware discussed in this thread, which will allow you to do a lot more with it:

Is that a possible squatting location between work Sen?

Cool location, I agree about the ISO, get that down to 400 and you will have a lot better luck.

Invest in a tripod and read up on the rule of thirds. Poor quality aside, the composition leaves MUCH to be desired. Contrary to popular belief, you can get some very nice pictures from a point and shoot. Read as much as you can, and no matter what SHOOT AS MUCH AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. Keep shooting until you're afraid that you're going to break the shutter release, then shoot some more.

Edit- Damn, I didn't realize it was you. I'm sure you know everything I just posted, so just disregard most of this post.

In this eerie night I will fly. I will dance in the circle of pain,
walking in this unknown empty land,
so confused for what's wrong or right. Searching for my inner power. - Nightrage-Circle of Pain
