Great set of shots! This is my holy grail... to get there one day and be able to explore it as thoroughly as I can.

Love what you've done with the pics. I think it's a sign I should lay off the video games when I can actually recognize some of the pictures from Call of Duty 4. lol

If you think COD4 is accurate, you haven't played S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-Shadow of Chernobyl. The game developers actually spent a lot of time in the area in order to make the environments as accurate as possible.

But anyway, those pictures are absolutely incredible. Like many other people, this is my holy grail. That ferris wheel is simply the most eerie, forbidding sight in the world, and I LOVE it.

So did the developers of CoD4.

The photos are amazing. Kind of like a dream-come-true ghost town. I guess I'd also like to know how you get permission

it's a tour? or you have to be a super good photographer working for national geographic or something similar? lol. getting permission from the military don't look too hopeful.

I guess I'm also kind of impressed that you weren't worried about the radiation. I mean everything there, the soil, the plants, still has levels of radioactivity. Although the thing about it being safe enough for the president was a good point. They keep them leaders safe. If you got power you got protection in this world

apparently there are (were?) tour companies that could organize a pass to go into the exclusion zone.

I read up on a few companies that were doing it. They would even provide you with an english speaking taxi driver that would take you around.

** Whoops realized I already posted something similar 3 months ago.. My bad..

Though if you want to see more, there are some amazing videos and pictures all over the place on Chernobyl. PM me and I will send you some.. (Some are also linked here if you do a search)

The Tour is well worth it.

We (myself, Dsankt, Quantum X and Flame) spent a good hour and a half running around Pripyat, leaving the other tourists to be lead by the guide. It was very easy going and in some ways it felt a bit more like exploring once allowed off the guides leash.

The number 4 reactor plant is likewise impressive tho its been hemmed in somewhat by new surrounding buildings. Its currently having repairs done to its sarcophagus.

My only complaint is the amount of short stops made to less interesting places, plus the fact the tour ran almost two hours behind schedule. More time at Pripyat wouldve been great.

Nevertheless a very worthwhile venture.

These pictures are amazing. This is by far one of my favorite sets and to go to Chernobyl is something I hope to do.

I shoot photos.

Sorry if already posted, I find this is a very interesting site with many pictures of the ruins.

I dont know whether the story of the motorcycle being fast enough to avoid contamination is true, although quite interesting to say the least.

No, it's all total bullshit.

Do a search here on UER about it and you'll find lots.

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.
