The Geo Trakker looks like it could be used again (those things aren't that old are they?) Why is that just sitting there?

Geo's, Hyundai's, Fiesta's, etc, are just like bic lighters. Disposable.

There's a lot of abandoned places in Bear Valley. This is either used to be someone's house or a storage facility. Half of the building is boarded up and one of the doors was open.

but but but....where's the bus that stupid Christopher McCandless found? its the most popular abandon place in alaska!

Those damn things are all over the state. Rednecks love busses, they're easier than building a log cabin or prefab for your hunting or drinkin' camp. If Alaskans ever join the space program, the moon base will be constructed of old schoolbusses covered in sprayfoam.

Welcome to Alaska casual-- you want to store things so no one can steal them? Let them be concealed by snow for a couple 7 months.

And there is nothing wrong with that!

The Jesse Lee Home is currently being restored, and they've fenced off the buildings in the meantime. I might be down for Kenecott over the summer, but I've already got plenty of explorations planned.

You act like they actually have funding to fix it up.

And they fence it off to try to keep these wonderful graffiti artists that we seem to NOT have out of it.. as well as kids who will destroy it.

Fence..
ITS A FENCE.

If it makes you feel any better i'll message the non-profit organization who is tryin to preserve it if we can go. (looks like they havent actually met up since 2007 on top of it.)

I was merely stating what I've seen from recent photos and updates to the website. That doesn't mean it can't be explored. They've done the same thing to Site Summit and it didn't stop me. No need to bite my head off. ;)

While we're on the subject of no pics. Here's a best of the best run-through.

You guys should definitely do a Kennecot trip. It's well worth it even if you don't get into the mine tunnels, and I suspect there are ways in that the parkies forgot to blow shut (I may have some suggestions, but I don't know any 100% gauranteed entrances on that side of the mountain).

Make sure to stop at the bar in Copper Center as well, it has a pimp cieling railroad based on the CRNWRR.

Darkangel, there's some interesting Nike bases and flood control stuff around North Pole, as well as a bunch of stuff in FBX. Don't take pictures of the refinery though, the local cops are convinced that "French Terrorists" are out to get it.
