| | | Looks like the ICQ icon for my profile isn't loading at all. The browser just sits there and waits for it to load, so it's not a broken image. Same problem happens in both Firebird and IE.

| | | I don't see your icon loading either using Opera 7 It says (on the Opera status bar) 'connecting to status.icq.com' while trying to load the icon so I think it's safe to say it's an icq problem and not something wrong with UER...
So there I was, in this creepy old hallway... |

| | | Are you running a script that determines if a user is online in ICQ? That's pretty cool but I am familiar with the ICQ servers and they do suck. Wouldn't it make more sense just to have the icon hosted locally and not worry about determining if the that particular user is online?

ICQ is owned by AOL now actually. Not sure what it's future fate will be.

| | | This has been happening to many of the other forums I post on (phpBB.com, RateMyTeachers.com, etc.). It takes like 10 mins. to load the contact the server. Definetely ICQ server-side.

| | | For those of you using Mozilla Firebird, you can right-click (or ctrl-click) on the non-loading ICQ status image and select "Block Images From..." and it will prevent that status image from loading. I've done it, and it's done the trick quite nicely. C.

Ah, I see that with Mozilla 1.5 (the suite) as well. I'm going to try blocking it here. It seems that something in Moz doesn't like the non-loading icon, to the point that "click to view" photo popups simply don't work if there's a non-loading ICQ icon anywhere on the page. Oddly, the problem doesn't occur in Opera. I can't try IE here, since I'm running Linux. [Edit: Blocking the ICQ icon fixed the non-working photo popups.] [last edit 1/29/2004 2:12 AM by Crispy Critter - edited 1 times]

| | | Hmm, I've noticed the non-functioning popup thing as well in Mozilla. If you hit Stop before the page loads it won't work. Is there some onLoad event that enables them or something? Because I think Mozilla follows the standard that onLoad doesn't get executed if the user hits Stop.
