| | | A University in the midwest... < on 4/19/2008 5:27 PM >
| | | I went a certain university in a certain town in the midwest to attempt to get into their steam tunnels. I'd been told/warned previously by other uers that they had recently installed motion detectors/cameras throughout the tunnel system. I had my doubts. They had told me they entered through a building and so it didn't surprise me to hear that they had almost gotten caught doing so. When I checked it out, yeah there is definitely an alarm system on the building. Two nights ago I found an exposed part of the tunnel with in a construction project going on on campus. My friend and I simply pulled back some plywood, and voila, there was a tunnel. We spent over two hours down there and explored what I believe is the extent of the walkable steam tunnels, minus a section that was blocked by a gate and bars, but I believe it does not continue far past that point. If you have any questions, pm me.

| | | If it's a certain city next to another city on a certain river where a certain bridge fell over, there are indeed cameras and tunnels in the deep levels (the tunnels are on two levels, a cut and cover network in the old part of campus and a mined-out network connecting more of the campus.

| | | Sooo where is this plywood---near fopo entrance to the garage/soroity/fraternity buildings perhaps? (I don't think there are steam tunnels in the quad where they are contructing the new building.) Brilliant Idea to check it. I used to love those steam tunnels, the giant fans were straight out of a movie. The metal gates lead to the power plant, yes??
Of coarse, I suppose many colleges have steam tunnels, but I've got a hunch I know where you are talking about. Let me know if I'm right plz!

| | | Steam tunnels are okay, but it's the building ventilation supply units and ducts that are the true gems beneath colleges. But you will get caught, and you will go to jail, and you will be banned from campus forever.
