A link to some interior Opsal pics and others

Hey all. I've lurked here a bit and thought I might introduce myself with some photos of mine.

For those who haven't been inside the Opsal Steel Building, here's what she looks like. The place will be coming down sometime in the next couple of months. Now or never.

Here's a link to a video about the Opsal. On it, the history is sketched out and the architects talk about the future of the site. Those plans still seem valid even though the video is at least a couple of years old - I talked with some crew guys working in there recently and they described the same deconstruct/reconstruct/extra-density-condo-tower that is discussed in the video.

And here's my larger Decay and Abandonment set, with all the Opsal photos as well as ones of Ravens Park (abandoned asylum in western Scotland - just a few of those, unfortunately) Hasard Cheratte (abandoned coke mine near Liege, Belgium), La Chartreuse (abandoned military complex in Liege), and an abandoned military hospital in the middle of Antwerp. Plus some street art and other bits.

I hope you enjoy them. And please excuse my lazy linking.

Wow, those are some awesome shots of the factory! Sweet location. I wish we had more like that in Victoria.

Thanks. And yeah, it is a pretty sweet location. Pretty rare these days in our corner of the woods, and about to become even rarer.

You know, there's a very cool abandoned ship up on dry land in Fanny Bay, just north of Parksville. Used to be an oyster restaurant, the "Brico." Worth a drive.

Nice photos shoes, great old building, interesting how it's lasted this long. There used to be a smaller one about the same age? around the corner, closer to the water, or on it. Welcome.

Thanks for the welcome. Are you referring to the Salt Building? On 1st and a block or so west? I'd love to get in there, but it is behind heavy security due to the whole athlete's village construction. I did manage to get the name and number of the city manager responsible for it, though. Planning to call soon and try to get a legit visit.

That is likely the building. I had a quick look years ago, there were workers so I didn't venture too far. Impressive heritage structures. Getting permission is cool, good luck.
