BOW STREET MAGISTRATES COURT, CENTRAL LONDON -UK

I knew from the start that this was going to be a special explore. I had been hatching a bit of a plan with DownFallen and around the Christmas holidays we moved in to explore this place. To my knowledge and to date we are the first explorers and the only explorers to go and look at Bow Street. Its unique - awesome.

The inspiration came after I’d been to the Sheffield Magistrates court. I was taken with the grandeur of the surroundings. Bow Street courts in London had been closed for sometime and had such an amazing history attached I wanted to see for myself.

Bow Street Magistrates’ Court was first established in 1739.In 2004, the court was put up for sale by its joint owners, its opened for the last time on July 14, 2006.

Famous defendents include Oscar Wilde, The Krays and Dr Crippen.

For DownFallen and I we mooched about looking at the rooms, but little but fixtures and fittings were left. The courtrooms were in very good condition and the cells were amazing. A really exciting place to roam. The history just jumped out at me here. Names had been left chalked up on the boards.

It is a definate dead of night explore given the location and the profile of the building.

Here is a scan of the plans that the developers have for the place. Rather bizzare if you ask me!!

Shhhh its a secret

I cannot understand why no-one has replied to this - One of the most daring and awesome explores in London 2008, in full view of a 24 hour busy street and the once best known court in the land!!!

I for one say well done Angel (although a few more pics would make it more awesome!!)

Some things about UER:

Keep in mind your talking to an international audience now, mostly N American. The significance of the exploration isn't immediately obvious to those not in the know, hey? On 28days, for instance this would be big news due to the locality and concentration of explorers who would have heard of the site.

Here, just needs a bit more background and some more pictures (or a link to some more pictures held off-site). The 'World' forum is a bit slow normally, but I can see that changing!

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

The only reason I mention 28days was simply to make a comparative point about the geography and target audience.

Zero, a better one in Leeds (or similar comments) don't mean dick here matey. Every discovery is unique and of some value, to someone somewhere.

Welcome to the larger target audience!
