Shakedown 1979

Appearances can be deceiving. I passed this location for many years, wrongfully assuming from the modern exterior that it was a boring empty house waiting for new owners.

I'm not sure when Johnson and Greene, Inc. began using the house for a regional office. They abandoned the post in 1979, though, leaving everything from their records, papers, porn, photos, hats, and alcohol behind. Documents chronicle the construction company's work, including dams, freeways, factories, and, apparently, a failed computer product.

Boxes and boxes of these were piled in the basement, never to be sold. Letters from dissatisfied customers claimed their accuracy was very poor.

In the president's desk. Would 40-year-old vodka be any good? I'm not even going to say what Miss Wyoming's unique talent was.

Amazingly clean for being abandoned for almost 20 years. Are you sure this isn't your parents home?

This is a really great set, though the distortion in 1, 3 and 10 is distracting. I really love 8!

Really great set.

Apparently they also forgot to tell the cleaning lady that they went out of business.

Yeah, I find it really hard to believe. This place is cleaner than my grandmother's old basement.

the pics are great, but it looks like the set of some cheeze 70's porn i found in my dad workshop as a kid... everything is to perfect, looks like it been place there on purpose!

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

amazing find, and sooo very cool to see how people lived back 29 years ago ...hah. but damn that green carpet was hideous back then, and it's even more scarey seeing it today. amazing set. hope no one finds this place. such a time capsule!!

Photo 3 (the stitch panorama) just needs a little help along the picture frame and the door jamb... But aside from those minor details it looks pretty damn good!

Nice work!

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

JESUS CHRIST only $3.33 for a bottle of vodka and $2.00 for the porn!

I mean awesome shots, this place had to either be cleaned up a lil bit or climate controlled for not even having a flake of paint in almost 30 years.

This place looks like a movie set. Do you have any ideas how it's stayed so perfect since the 70's? The place is spotless. The green carpet, and the little brick half wall next to the door are priceless 70's.

Great stuff. I love office spaces, especially when they're preserved to this sort of level.
