The catacombs (quarries) are a definite must for serious explorers. There's usually a few very well known stoner/party entrances open, I'm sure if you look around online you can find one. Make sure to go with someone and bring a map, as it's very easy to get lost. Do some research on it first, since if you want to see the "best" sights, you'll be walking for miles through lots of water/mud/crawls/low passages. You could also try contacting some cataphiles, if you don't make yourself look like too much of a tourist you can probably find a guide or at least some good info.

If you don't have time or don't want to take the effort to see the real stuff, there's also a catacomb museum and a sewer museum.

Turn off the internet and go play outside.

Something that might be worth looking into is the Sagrada Família church in Barcelona. The architecture is absolutely amazing. Its not abandoned, but its been under construction since 1882 and won't be done until 2026.

OMAHA BEACH........MUST SEE

Omaha beach is about 3 hours west of Paris if I recall my WW2 history right. Not the sort of thing you can do in a few hours off.

The catacombs sound interesting:

I found a map showing where they are, and where a whole pile f expensive hotels are:

I think there is a metro station right by the entrance.

It would be cool to see your pictures mate.

CATACOMBS!

Take a look at my photos, best UE ever.

Be VERY polite and get a request to visit translated in French before you go (or use your own french)

ckzone.org

Go on a weekend, bring extra beer, wine and make some sandwich's out of fresh baguettes. This goes a long way when your underground.

make sure you introduce yourself, there a bit unfriendly to internet strangers but very nice once you get underground.

The Catacombs and Sagrada Família are a must. There's a bunch of wicked Gaudi buildings in Barcelona.

Those are the touristy ones, which are about .05% of the quarry systems under Paris. Very different from what Aggressive is talking about, and what most explorers mean when they talk about the Paris Catacombs. If you want the Disneyland version then go to the tourist ones, but the real ones are way cooler (dirtier, darker, more dangerous, more carvings, art, interesting people, parties, and activity, and free unless you get caught and fined by the catacops).

If you're looking for cheap hotels and don't want a hostel, try Formule1 (Forumla 1). They're no-frills but they are very affordable, especially for groups of 2-3. Porte de Châtillon is near an entrance to the real catacombs.

I totally agree with all of what my cataphile-exploring partner Freak said about the real catacombs (not the museum as seen in pic) and would add that trying to go down there alone (especially if you never went before) would be plain stupid. Plus cataphiles you MIGHT came across under will mostly be pissed off that you went alone as it's super easy to get lost or face some problems of some sorts...

ckzone.org, go into the FOREIGN thread and be very, very, very, VERY nice and kind and hopefully a cataphile will offer to take you down there...

Bring food, bring booze and be ready to offer some to your hosts as a way to pay your passage

One thing though : I totally hated the Formula 1 Hotel I stayed at with Freak and other fine people and so later on other trips I stayed at the Centre international de Séjour de Paris - Kellerman. Well located, way cheaper than the Formula1, plus you get a private room with private washroom! YEAHHH!!!! I paid 16 Euros a night. Oh and free wifi in the lobby (contrary to Formula 1!)
