Some help and honest critiques

Hey guys,
I know some of these pics are not UE related, but I'm looking to submit some stuff to a journal of arts and letters...you know publishing purposes and work up credentials for my work and portfolio.

So, anyhoo, I'd appreciate any honest and/or helpful critiques before I submit anything, because in addition to being explorers, we are also photographers.

(P.S. Keep in mind this is an artsy-journal)

I'm going to be honest here and say that art is more than fisheye lenses, blurry snapshots and photoshop effects. I don't know where you're submitting these, but I'd concentrate less on trying to look "arty" and more on taking pictures that actually say or show something of interest.

#5 is nice though. And the one with garbage bins is interesting, but that's due more to someone else's creativity than your own.

if you are happy with these, you should submit 'em.

there always gonna be people who love and people who hate it. So be a good judge on your own.

ok. I agree, #2 is blown out, it was one of my first attempts at digital and I still struggle to shoot the bus station at night.

I agree with you. Before trying my hand at photography I was (and for the most part still am) an artist. I want to portray on film what I can create by hand, but at times find it difficult. The only 2 that I used photoshop with were the digital ones, the dumpsters and the chairs(of course). The first one was purely a mistake and caught quite candidly with a red side-marker light taken off of a radio tower. I really like the red, I didn't retouch this pic, and I feel like it comes closest in my attempt to recreate what I like to do with my art. I don't know, if it were a sharper image, it might be more pleasing.

Again, thanks for you guy's feedback

I'm a little bit of a day late and a dollar short on this, but hell... Two is blown out, but the picture has potential. I would suggest trying it as an HDR, you could get pretty much the same effect, but with a lot more clarity.

Number 4 would be more interesting if there was information on both sides of the picture... Perhaps number 7 would have been a better fisheye...

But number one... WOW awesome awesome shot!

i think your photos are interesting.

#1: i absolutely LOVE the color, creativity & content of this shot. and my only suggestion would be to maybe crop just that tiniest shadow of the underneath of her eyes out of the photo. it seems a bit odd just on the very edge of the photo.

#3 is very interesting. i think it's an interesting shot, especially with the text on the dumpsters.

#5 tried to tell a story about frank. i wonder what he's pointing/looking at. is he a building inspector? *wink*

#8 is very fun and very 'artsy." i like the colors and the symmetry in the photo.

great job!
