I need to get back to this place. I spent about an hour and a half or so there, and don't remember seeing lots of the stuff in your shots. What floor was the fireplace in #9 on? That's a great shot.

In terms of critique, first off if I were you I would get a Photobucket account or something similar, that way you can link to your shots without having to condense them down.

Some of the shoots could be a bit better if they were centered and leveled off a bit more. For example, numbers 9 and 10 have great potential, but perhaps capturing the entire fireplace would be better, and centering up and leveling out the stairs would improve that shot. Do you use a tripod when you shoot? Also, what kind of camera are you using?

I didn't see the fireplace the first time i went either. It was down the set of stairs by the room that led up to the water tower.

I was using an Olympus Evolt E-500 with a mini tripod. There really wasn't a way to get directly in front of the fireplace since the ceiling was collapsed and i didn't want to bust it up. we rushed the shots in that room too, since there was someone upstairs making a lot of noise.

Thanks for the advice.

Dude, E-500 for the win! I was here with Ram23 a few weeks ago for my second time and still have yet to find the room with the fireplace. Although we didn't spend much time in there our last visit. These are my shots from the last visit:

In terms of critique: The E-500 is not the greatest camera in low light situations, once you hit about 800 iso it likes to get all goofy and grainy. Get a real tripod, Best Buy has some decent ones for around 30 bucks, and take your time to compose the shots using longer shutter speeds if you have to. Six is a new view from the top that I have never seen anyone photograph before, props on that.

That's too bad about the fireplace room, it really looks like an awesome spot. I'm going to have to get back to this place soon.

Are you sure it was a person who was up there and not an animal?

Looks like fun!

I like the contrast in 01, 04 and 08 really intrigue me, and you have an excellent subject on 09, although it looks like you cut off the bottom corner of the fireplace in that pic.

The rest are either blurry, have flares, or are just kinda boring. 10 seems like it has potential though.

Also, I would suggest resizing the images to less than 500 by 500 pixels. When you post pics as big as yours, they kind of attack your screen when they're expanded, and it's not fun to have to scroll up and down to see the full pic.

Aikefu, how big of a monitor are you viewing them on? His photos show up at 900 pixels wide and I don't have to scroll anywhere.
